“Rivers-The Lifeline” and “SOS: Planet”

A traveling exhibition on ‘RIVERS - The Lifeline’ and a 3D show on “SOS:Planet” were inaugurated on 7th September 2009 at Regional Science City, Lucknow.

Since the advent of civilization, man has been constructing dams and reservoirs for storing surplus river water available during wet season and for utilization during dry period. The dams and reservoirs have been playing dual role in harnessing the river water for accelerating socio-economic growth and mitigating the miseries of large population suffering from the vagaries of flood and drought.

The “Rivers-The Lifeline” exhibition provides ample opportunity for visitors to learn and explore more about the environment and various related issues. Rivers carry water and nutrient to areas around the earth and help sustain civilization and contribute to their growth. Rivers keep their valleys moist and suitable for natural vegetation as well as for agriculture.

The new 3D show “SOS: Planet” highlights the cause-and-effect of three important environmental conditions: global warming, ocean habitat depletion/destruction and deforestation, and also increases the awareness among the masses and students about the environment and its protection.
