The staff members of NCSM participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences relating to science centre field. Good infrastructure is available at NCSM for imparting training in development of low cost teaching aids, computer animation, art display, operation of portable planetarium, exhibit development and development of new science centres for professionals from like-minded institutions.

A formal course leading to a degree of Master of Science in Science Communication is being conducted in collaboration with Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani and faculty support from the Smithsonian Institution, USA. The visiting faculty also includes faculty from Jadavpur University, Calcutta University, National Institute of Design etc.

Heads of science museums/centers in India meet every year to discuss matters relating to science museums/ centres.

The personnel from the centres set up by NCSM in different parts of India and abroad have also received training in NCSM.
